Core Bike 2008

We had a great Core Bike Show - plenty of Dealers and a whole host of riders turned up to check out the latest products from over 12 suppliers. Amongst the luminaries that turned up to the Ison room were Scott Beaumont, Rob Warner (who along with Chris Smith came to see the Halo wheels that Team Giant will be running this year) and new Identiti/Halo Team rider Chris Mahoney. Check out the Halo "Wall of Wheels" which showcased the fact that Halo is more than just a jump company and has a wheel for any discipline including - Road, MTB, XC, BMX, Track, 4Cross, DirtJumping, Street, Park & Commuting.

Halo Wheels Soapbox Racer!

We received this e-mail yesterday!

A big thank you to all at Halo Rims for the Quality And workmanship that produced the desired result at “cadwell Park Gravity Festival” Yesterday.

Let me explain……We are the Wheel Nuts Soapbox Racing Team. A 2 man team of Tool room Engineers that enjoy a challenge. We raced at various events last year including Cadwell 07 and the Eastbourne word cup and wanted to progress this year to a more serious entry, so we started planning the building our MK2 soapbox late in 07. One of the Key factors of soap boxing is the quality of the wheels and the general consensus of opinion seems to be to use BMX wheel because of there strength in to side load situation. We wanted to be different and decided to use mountain bike wheels because of the reduced rotations and their ability to travel over the imperfections of the track. This idea seamed to be frowned upon by the seasoned soap boxer as there’s “no way a big wheel will stand that side load under cornering”. We were not deterred! After much research one name kept popping up, “HALO” so we dually order 4 Halo Combat rims and designed our “buggy” around them.

The day dawned (yesterday) at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire and yet again we had the comments “they will not stand the corners”, we were not put off!!!
After 6 runs on a very cold wind swept race track the doubters were silenced!!!!!!!!!!!
We finished second, only to the Honda Formula 1 Team in their carbonfiber ultra high Tec “soapbox” What a result!!!!!!!!!
The rims performed immaculately! They stood up to those unusual side load without a flinch, they took the abuse that all said they would not, we salute you!!!!!!!
Once again I thank you for this excellent result from 2 guys in a £400.00 Wheelie bin (yes look closely) against 25 teams including some big names.

Thanks Barry.

How cool is that?
